The excitement of watching for Jolly's arrival at Thanksgiving, the thrill of wondering just exactly

where in the house I'd find him, and the comfort in knowing that he would tell Santa what was on

my wish list, made the holiday season extra special for me when I was a child. Now, as a parent

of two teens, I admit that, although I look forward to enjoying second helpings of Waldorf salad and

sweet potatoes, my favorite part of Thanksgiving still is the arrival of my faithful friend, Jolly.

His sweet smile & the twinkle in his eyes have always been reassuring. Indeed, he still

has a place in my heart.

“Jo Ripley’s Jolly the Elf story is a delightful addition to the Christmas sagas.

It is an authentic family tale and tradition inspired by the most wonderful prompter

of invention -- a child’s curiosity. The text is sweet and wistful, and the illustrations

are magical. Yes, Virginia, there is a Jolly the Elf.”

—Jack Kerley, New York Times & London Times best-selling author

Having the "Jolly" tradition in our house was always one of my favorite things
when I was a child. Waking up on Thanksgiving morning to see he had returned
for another year was almost as exciting as a Christmas morning full of presents
under the tree. This is one tradition I just had to continue with my family. My
children love our elf just as much as I did when I was younger, and the story that
goes along with it is priceless. I know that when they have families of their own
one day, the tradition will continue with them.

I have many memories of Jolly the Elf. I met Jolly at Jo's home in Canandaigua,
New York when I was 16 years old -- that was in 1963. My children, Melissa and
Chris, have childhood memories of the same Jolly growing up in Ohio. I am so
excited that I will now be able to give Jolly the Elf to my granddaughter Brittany
and her precious little girl Darby so they can continue the tradition in their home.
I can't wait to see the joy Jolly brings to them. Thanks for all the memories!

We gave mom the book Saturday for St. Nick day. They always have St.
Nick
come to their house. On Sunday all the Grandkids came over. My
mother has had a Elf in her house for years. She would move it around on
the days when the kids where there and when they would notice it was
moved she would tell them it must be magic and Santa's elf's must be
watching you. I stopped by there Wednesday night and asked if she had
read the story to the Kids and she said she had on Sunday. I asked her
how the kids liked it and she said they loved it and they have not touched
the elf since then. They have a Granddaughter that is just 1 year old.
She said now the older boy's will not even let her touch it. It is a
great book and fits right in to what Mom has been doing for years.
Thanks for a great story.
